This coffee is amazing. The best Sumatra I've ever had!

This is honestly the worst coffee I have ever had in my life. The aroma smells like hot sauce, and the after-taste is extremely bitter, strong, and tastes like onions. I would rather drink instant coffee with 50 tablespoons of sugar, than drink 4 ounces of this coffee. Watch out.

Coffee from Sumatra is very unique. For some people, including me, Sumatra is their favorite coffee origin because they like an earthy, pipe tobacco, apricot taste... For others, Sumatra basically tastes like dirt. Sumatra Samosir Batak is a great coffee, but make sure you actually like coffees from Sumatra before you buy.

One of the best coffees I've had at home. I love dark roasts and Indonesian coffee, and bought this specifically for the pipe tobacco notes. That, the creaminess and the apricot are all present for my palate. This put the other dark roast we currently had to shame.

Sadly one of my least favorite coffees we serve. Very dark, bitter, with a lingering aftertaste. Possibly a coffee to try for those that love French Roast, but in my opinion it does not even have the redeeming qualities of a true heavy and dark coffee like French Roast.

Previous bitter and dirt comments have described it well. Simply not for me.

Love the flavor. The aroma and taste remind me of time spent at my grandparents' house as a kid.

LOVE this blend. I go every morning to the drive-thru and generally like what the 'coffee of the day' is, but today I finally had to call the store to ask which one was brewed today so I could purchase some to brew at home. YUMMY Just wish my work would serve Caribou!

the only word that describes this coffee is "vile". Like drinking tobacco, and it leaves an aftertaste that is hard to get rid of.

Sumatra makes, hands down, the best cup I have tasted in my 50 years of drinking coffee! I love it and, although I sometimes drink some of the other stuff that's around, I keep coming back to Caribou Sumatra. For me, it's the way coffee is supposed to taste. It's the way I would expect the coffee to taste in heaven!

This is exactly what I want my coffee to taste like! It is rich, clean, subtle, and a little fruity. The medium-dark roast as absolutely perfect for this bean. I wish everyone that says they love Starbucks could taste this. They would never go back.

This coffee is too bitter and woody. It's extremely dry on the tongue and leaves a very strong, lingering aftertaste.

You can't be an American-style coffee drinker and like this. I found it to be tasty and memorable. Love the aroma! I've traveled through Europe a lot and agree with Europeans that the standard American coffee is very bland. If you like American coffee, you won't like this stuff. If you like to really taste your coffee, try this.

Good... but it's never made my list of great enough to buy a pound of beans. One afternoon while I was drinking Sumatra and snacking on some almonds I made a terrific discovery; the combination leaves a chocolate after taste in your mouth.

I like a full-bodied coffee, but I drink decaf. This is the darkest Caribou has without going into the french/expresso roasts, which taste burnt to me. If I want burnt-tasting coffee, I'll go to that other store.

I don't like this flavor. It seems a bit too acidic for me and tips into my stomach. I have better luck with other beans.

I tried this once and couldn't figure out why it really tasted like no other coffee. Distinctly aromatic and yummy with cream & sugar. The aroma was one that I couldn't place. Then I read the package and read something about pipe tobacco. Having never been a smoker, I thought "eww". But I must say this is my 2nd favorite next to Costa Rican, which isn't offered right now.

I didn't like the tobacco flavor. It just ruined the coffee. This was the first bag of coffee that we couldn't finish. The beans went straight to the compost pile.

I've tried a variety of Caribou roasts and Sumatra is definitely my favorite. It's dark, but not too dark. I've shared it with friends, and they now purchase from Caribou instead of a different Coffee House.

Every morning, I get a large bold - whatever it might be, and it is usually tasty. This morning, when I got to my office and took that first sip, I thought WOW THIS IS GREAT! So much so, that I just called the store to find out what it was - SUMATRA... outstanding!

It's the most delicious roast I've ever tasted. If I drink it black it's like enjoying a nice pipe tobacco; add a little sugar and milk, and it's like drinking caramel. I've tried some other local coffee house blends from Sumatra region, and they tend to be a tad more acidic than the mellowness of this roast.

this was the BEST smelling coffee ever with a taste to match. i usually only buy Espresso roast, which i did here too, but this was by far a better tasting coffee

This is the coffee that keeps me coming back to Caribou. From the first sniff to the last sip, your Sumatra brand is like no other (and I've tried all the others). This is truly a coffee with a unique, full-bodied, addicting flavor. Please keep this one around forever.

this coffee is robust and very flavorful I love it. And what I am most interested in is that it is naturally processed or (water processed)from what I understand and that is important to me. Thank you
